Roar in Himalayas - Spiti Valley Bike Trip

Adventure Cost Rs. 17900

Trip Introduction :

You know how they say “It’s not about the destination. It’s about the journey.” In this Spiti valley bike trip from Chandigarh/ Delhi, it is both about the destination and also about the journey. This is an 8-day biking trip to and around one of India’s most unexplored destinations - Spiti valley, also known as the ‘middle land’, (land between India & Tibet). The bike trip to Spiti valley will initiate with the urban backdrop of the bustling city of Chandigarh, slowly gliding into the marvels of the Hindustan - Tibet road, and eventually veering into the untamed Spiti valley, isolated and scattered with the world’s highest inhabited villages & beautiful monasteries. This is a challenging yet scenic road adventure with rugged terrain meant for passionate bike riders looking for offbeat Himalayan bike routes & destinations.

If you're wondering about how to reach Spiti valley, there are two routes to enter Spiti and travelers opt for one of these two routes: one is Manali to Spiti Valley (Chandigarh - Manali - Rohtang Pass - Kunzum Pass - Losar - Kaza) & the other is Shimla to Spiti Valley (Chandigarh - Shimla - Narkanda - Kinnaur Valley - Tabo - Kaza). On our journey, we will enter the valley via Shimla and exit the valley via Manali, finishing a complete circuit. This way, our Spiti valley bike trip will cover all the major tourist destinations of the entire circuit of Shimla - Kinnaur - Spiti - Manali including Tabo, Kaza, Dhankar, Losar, Key, Pin valley, Langza, Chandratal, Kunzum Pass, Rohtang Pass and so on.

Our Spiti valley bike trip is designed to bring you the best road experience to Spiti, along with an opportunity to participate in one of the highest Indian marathons organized in the village of Kaza at 12,000 ft above sea level. What makes this marathon a one of a kind run are the never heard before high altitudes it’s organized at and the spectacular views of Spiti valley and mountains falling on both the sides of the run route. After the run, you can relax and enjoy The Spiti Carnival, a 3-day celebration where the local tribes come and exhibit their culture, art forms, cuisine, and music.

As you may have known by now, this bike ride is not like the much familiar Ladakh bike trip or any other Himalayan motorcycle tour. Our Spiti valley bike trip covers roads and culture like no other biking experience. This will be a tale of a few passionate bikers riding along the Himalayan terrain, exploring a destination through its roads, adventure, spirituality, culture, music, and art.

19th June: Delhi/ Chandigarh - Rampur

Assemble in Delhi/ Chandigarh at the time designated by our team. We start our journey towards Rampur, which is a 240 km ride from Chandigarh and 468 km from Delhi. On the way, we cross the scenic city of Shimla and the beautiful town of Narkanda. Rampur was once a major centre on the old trade route to Kinnaur, Tibet, Ladakh & China. Today, it is one of the biggest commercial towns of Himachal Pradesh. We reach Rampur & have an overnight stay there.

20th June: Rampur - Tabo

We start riding for Tabo on this day. Tabo is a 235 km stretch from Rampur. We cover the most beautiful and quaint villages of Himachal Pradesh: Sarahan, Kalpa and Nako while riding to Tabo. We reach Tabo and explore the small town. You can also visit the Tabo Monastery, which is said to be about 1,000 years old.

21st June: Tabo - Dhankar - Pin Valley - Kaza

This will be a day full of exploration, as we start riding from Tabo to Dhankar and explore the Dhankar monastery, then ride from Dhankar to Pin valley and explore the Pin valley national park. Pin valley is the only oasis of green in the otherwise brown and barren landscape of Spiti. We then ride our way to Kaza and make an overnight stay there.

22nd June: Kaza - Key - Langza - Kaza

We ride to two very important spots of Spiti valley on this day: Key monastery & the village of Langza. Located on top of a hill, around 12 km from Kaza, this monastery is the largest monastery of Spiti valley. Around 16 km from Kaza, lies the stunning village of Langza at 14,000 feet. It is a rich treasure house of marine fossils. Fossils of marine creatures and plants that are around a million years old. Surrounded by high peaks all around, this village only has about 33 houses. After a day of exploration on our bikes, we head back to Kaza. Overnight stay at Kaza.

23rd June - Run at Kaza/ Spiti Carnival

This will be a rest day for our bikers. They can also participate in a unique heritage run on this day. It is unique because it is India’s highest half marathon, organized at 12,000 ft above sea level. The scenic Spiti valley and mountains will accompany you on both sides while you run. Post the run, there will be The Spiti Carnival, where you will meet the local tribes who will come and showcase their culture, food, art, and music. A day full of celebrations will be planned for you. It will be a carnival you will remember forever. A perfect last evening in the Spitian valley.

24th June: Kaza - Chandratal

We start riding from Kaza to Chandratal. For all the bikers who are on the quest to explore the most unseen parts of the country, the high altitude lake of Chandratal (situated at 4,300 metres) will complete your dream. It is the most favourite spot amongst travelers and what makes it even more thrilling is the fact that after riding till a certain point, you have to take a short trek to the lake because of it’s exotic location and high altitudes. At night, we will camp at the lake. Camping at Chandratal under the star-studded sky is considered as an ultimate life-changing experience.

25th June: Chandratal - Manali

We ride a 127 km stretch from Chandratal to Manali. Enroute, we cover two very high altitude passes: Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass. Overnight stay at Manali.

26th June: Manali - Chandigarh/ Delhi

A stretch of 305 km, we leave the mountains behind and ride our way back to the city of Chandigarh.
