“Dad, will you and Mom come for my Annual Day tomorrow?”
“Dad, can you please get me new video game?”
“Dad, can you pick me up from school?”
“Dad, I have college projects to do, can I get a laptop?”
“Dad can you buy me a new phone?”
The answers to all the above questions have always been a ‘yes’.’
Father’, ‘Papa’, ‘Daddy’, ‘Dad’, call what you may, he is a daughter’s first love and a son’s first best friend. A father plays many roles. He is our protector, our teacher, our guide, our shoulder to cry on.
History of Father’s Day
Today, all over the globe we celebrate and dedicate this day to our Father. We honour all the sacrifices, celebrate Parenthood, but have you ever wondered how it all started?
The first Father’s Day celebration was held in Washington at the YMCA on June 19, 1910. The pioneer for the celebration was Sonora Smart Dodd , who celebrated this in honour of her father who was a civil war veteran and had single-handedly raised six kids.
Ann Jarvis started “Mother’s’ Friendship Day,” in 1868 which was celebrated as a part of her “Mothers’ Day Work Clubs” which served as a force which united them in a war torn USA. After hearing about this she suggested to her pastor that even Father’s should be honoured like this and thus we celebrate Father’s Day .
After much political on goings, in 1966 the first presidential proclamation was issued by Lyndon B. Johnson, the then President of the United States of America, to make the day official and honour Fathers just like Mothers.
We thought of celebrating this day in a different way. Here we honour the adventurous spirit of Fathers by sharing with you some beautiful father kid adventure videos showing how fathers involve their kids in adventure, go on outdoor trips or do something adventurous.
